Aurelio can talk to new clubs in January

The Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio has admitted that his contract talks with the club have come to a standstill, and the 30 year-old can now start discussing his future with other clubs in the New Year.

He said: “At the moment we are waiting for Liverpool.”

`We started conversations before the end of last season. But I had the injury in the summer and then they stopped the conversation and we are now in this position.

“What matters for me now is playing, being part of the team and helping Liverpool so the boss is happy. Until my contract finishes, I will try my best to help Liverpool.”

“I have not had too many problems with injuries. I had a knee injury and when you come back you play three times a week and are not fully fit. You can see it with other players.

“What is important to me is keeping free of injuries and being involved in most of the games.”

It seems that Benitez is happy for the defender to leave, but as he arrived on a free transfer, Liverpool won’t be out of pocket.

Do you think that Aurelio is too old to play for Liverpool now?
