Babel not going anywhere and its official

In reaction to recently circulating rumours that we where about to sell Ryan Babel, Benitez asserted the Dutchman wasn’t going to leave the club because he “is an important part” of our plans.

“I have not said that Ryan has to leave the club.” said the Benitez.

“We received an offer for the player and he said that he did not want to leave the club, therefore we rejected the offer.

“He is a good player and he works hard, I want him in the squad.”

We have just let go of Dossena to Napoli receiving £4.5m in the process. Add to that Voronin appears to be on his way out to join Dynamo Moscow for £2m.

“The Voronin deal is nearing completion but both he and Dossena are different to Babel.

“They were not playing many matches and wanted to play regularly elsewhere.” Benitez elaborated.

However, we don’t often see Babel starting, do we? He’s only taken part in 10 of our Premiership games this season, which is only 2 more than Voronin. We know Babel is growing restless and fears his chances to make the Dutch final list for the World Cup will be affected by the lack of 1st team participation.

Not sure we want to keep a disgruntled player

i think that babel needs to be given a chance. since arriving from ajax he has had very few starts. he is faster than torres and has said how he would like to play up front. obviously he is not as good as torres but he has good pace and finishing. i think he is too lazy to play on the wing and think rafa should play him up front with torres and move stevie back to the middle where he plays his best.
