Benitez – No guarantee Torres will face Everton

The Liverpool manager has decided not to risk Fernando Torres in tomorrows crucial Champions League tie against Debrecen in Hungary.

He will stay in Liverpool to continue his rehabilitation, but Benitez is not even confident he will be ready for the massive Liverpool derby next week against Everton.

“We thought he would be out for two or three weeks and he’s only 12 or 13 days into that, so there’s no point in him going to Hungary.” Benitez said.

“The next few days will decide if he is fit for Everton, but at this moment there are no guarantees.”

Liverpool are looking decidedly short-handed for tomorrows match, but even if they win it will matter little if Fiorentina beat Lyon in the other group match.

Benitez will just have to hope that all things go Liverpools way in Europe and then see how many players he can get fit for Sunday.
