Benitez – Torres, Gerrard and Johnson should be okay to face Fulham

The Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is reasonably confident that Glen Johnson and Fernando Torres, who both played against Man Utd despite suffering from injuries, have not aggravated their problems, and should be okay to face Fulham this weekend.

Captain Steven Gerrard missed the United game after injuring his groin on international duty, but Benitez thinks he is improving enough to rejoin the squad too.

“Gerrard will not be available for this game but he is improving, so hopefully he can be ready for Saturday.” said Benitez.

He then praised Torres and Johnson for playing through their injuries. He said: “It was difficult for both especially because it was a tough game, but they were training and we were taking care of them.

“Now they are training and I think they’ll be available for the next games.”

It is crucial for Liverpool that Torres and Gerrard remain fit for as much of the season as possible. The Reds can’t afford to drop many more points from now on.
