Fulham v Liverpool team news – Aquilani, Gerrard and Johnson out

Aquilani has a virus
Liverpool travel to Fulham tomorrow looking to build on last weeks win over the Champions Man Utd. That is the only game they have won out of their last six matches, so this will be a big test for them.
Liverpool won last season’s fixture thanks to a last minute winner from Yossi Benayoun, and they would like to win it a little earlier this time around.
But the bad news for the Reds is that Glen Johnson, captain Steven Gerrard and their new £20m midfielder Alberto Aquilani will not be available.
Gerrards groin is becoming such a worry that Liverpool are even contemplating surgery to sort it out.
“Gerrard still has a problem with his groin so he won’t be available this weekend,” said Benitez.
“At this moment he’s working with the physios. He has to keep working and we’ll decide next week how he progresses.
Glen Johnson’s calf problem is improving but he is not fit enough to make the bench. He will be out for at least another week.
Alberto Aquilani was hopeful of being in the squad after playing his first 15 minutes for the club against Arsenal in midweek, but he has now picked up a virus and will be left out. (He didn’t visit Blackburn did he!)
Torres is hopeful of making the team. He played last week despite having a groin injury and if he hasn’t aggravated it since he should make the bench at least.
Fulham have an even longer injury list than Liverpool and will be missing Andrew Johnson from their attack with a grion problem Also Simon Davies, Danny Murphy and Etuhu are also missing through injury.
Their new South African striker Kagisho Dikgacoi will sit out the last match of his three -game suspension.
Liverpool have a great record against Fulham, and the Londoners have failed to score against them in the last four tries. Liverpool will be trying hard to extend that record tomorrow and will be desperate for the three points to keep them in the title race.
