News, Views and comment about Liverpool FC

After Liverpool’s untimely exit from the Champions League, the transfer rumours are starting to increase as it becomes more evident that another striker is urgently needed.

Most of the papers are saying that the ex-Man Utd star Ruud Van Nistelrooy is keen on moving to Anfield, although they say that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been making “discreet” inquiries about the Dutch international.

The Mirror says that Benitez will try and get Van Nistelrooy on loan until the end of the season with a view to making it permanent at the end of the season when he has more funds available.

They also say that Voronin, Dossena and Babel will also go out on loan, if buyers can’t be found, to reduce the wage bill and fund the massive paypacket for Van Nistelroy.

The Telegraph says that, although Van Nistelroy is an option for Benitez, he would prefer to take the England striker Emile Heskey, but that certainly doesn’t ring true to me!

A much more likely scenario is the possibility of Roman Pavlyuchenko moving north from Tottenham on a loan deal. The Mirror thinks that Spurs will be more than happy to get rid of the disappointing Russian, but will want assurance they will be paid in full next summer.
