Liverpool transfer rumours Nov 13 2009 – Leiva and Voronin
With the international break giving the papers little to talk about, the Liverpool transfer rumours always seem to increase as the players fly all over the world.
Todays first titbit is the news that Rafael Benitez doesn’t want Lucas Leiva to leave in January, and has set a price of £14m on his head to ward off any interest.
The 22 year-old Brazilian international is likely to lose his place in the Liverpool first team when Alberto Aquilani reaches full fitness, but a report in the Daily Mirror says that there are “many top European clubs” waiting to pounce for Leiva. At the moment Benitez will be desperate to ADD to the team rather than sell anyone i would have thought.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool Echo has revealed that the German club Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to take Andriy Voronin back to Germany in January after a successful loan spell at Hertha Berlin last season, and the 30 year-old is keen to play more first team football to ensure his place in the Ukraine squad for the World Cup Finals next summer.
Voronin has only made three starts for the Reds this season, but has come off the bench nine times so far. But he has not managed a single goal so far. He can expect a few more games now that Fernando Torres is out for at least three weeks, but with David Ngog seeming to have leaped into favour with Benitez, Voronin may be better off going back to Germany.
And with rumours abounding that Benitez wants to bring in another striker in January, Voronin may bring in a few million to add to his transfer kitty.
