Pepe Reina very keen to sign new Liverpool contract
The Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been talking about how much he loves Liverpool and is more than ready to come to an agreement with the club over a new contract.
The Spaniard is considered one of the best keepers in the world right now and at only 27, has many more years at the top of his game.
“I can see in the city – just walking in the streets and talking to people – that there is a passion which cannot be matched in other cities in this country and around the world. Now, I realise just how lucky I am to represent this club. I couldn’t be happier here.
“My family is well settled down and my children especially feel like Liverpool is home. On the football side, I am 27-years-old and have many games behind me. Mentally, I feel ready to take on anything because my experiences – especially at Liverpool – have made me a lot stronger person and professional. Right now, I am at one of the best moments of my career.
“I would like to stay here a long, long time – I am certain about that. I couldn’t imagine playing for another club and pulling on another shirt. The club knows how I feel about this, so hopefully there will be some developments soon. I am ready to talk.”
Rafael Benitez said yesterday that he was confident of coming to an agreement with Reina, so with both sides looking for an amicable arrangement, it can only mean good news for the Reds!
