Ronnie Whelan – Benitez is useless at transfers!

The Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan has blasted Rafael Benitez after seeing his Liverpool team fail to win for the seventh time in eight games.
Whelan reckons Liverpool are going to fail to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, and he lays the blame squarely on the shoulders of Benitez.
“I don’t doubt Benitez’s passion for Liverpool,” Whelan said, “or his hunger to win for the fans, but his judgement in the transfer market has been awful and that’s why the Kop will be watching Europa Cup games before too long,”
The Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who is expected to sign a new contract in the near future, is annoyed that they now have to rely on other results, but believes the team can stop the rot.
“Disgracefully, it is not in our hands any more – we need Lyon to get something at Fiorentina.”
“It’s not the end. We have got two games to go. Our priority is to win our two games that remain and we will keep trying.”
“Miracles? They happen, particularly at Liverpool.”
