Sacking Benitez is unlikely anytime soon

Different people have different opinions about when Rafa Benitez will finally lose his job ranging from the fan on the terrace to former players, television pundits and bookies.

From some comments on here and at other websites including Liverpool forums there is a growing consensus among the fans that Benitez needs to go, the same applies to former players and TV pundits, the bookies on the other hand think the Spaniard will still be there come the end of the season.

So the question is what will it take for the owners to swallow the reported £20 Million in compensation and fire the under achieving manager.

There are some points in the season that will be pivotal, a loss to Reading in the FA Cup replay is one, being knocked out of the Europa Cup is another and one would suggest that falling ten points behind the 4th spot would be another.

Of course it can work both ways, a serious run in both competitions and a move up the table would soon placate the doubters but Liverpool at this time simply do not look capable of achieving these sorts of runs.

From a personal standpoint we are of the opinion that Benitez will stay on in his job, the Americans are too tied to the money to just give £20 Million away and the likelihood is that no investor is going to come riding in on a white horse any time soon.

Results will of course play a huge role but alas money speaks and the American owners just do not have it and therefore the status quo will remain in place for some time yet.
